About COVID-19 Testing

Who can receive COVID-19 testing?
HSHS Medical Group offers COVID-19 testing to individuals experiencing one or more of the following symptoms: Cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and/or new loss of taste or smell. We also provide testing to those exposed to another person diagnosed with COVID-19 and those who have been in close contact with a person who is currently being quarantined for suspected COVID-19.

Where is COVID-19 testing offered?
At select HSHS Medical Group locations in Springfield, Decatur, Effingham and O'Fallon. You will receive instructions on where to go as you select the location you would like to have your test performed.

Do I need an appointment?
Yes, and by logging on to this site, you are now in the right place! Simply sign in to your existing MyChart account (or click Sign Up Now to create an account). Then, click "COVID-19 Test" and follow the prompts.

How is the test performed?
COVID-19 testing is quick and painless. The swabbing is very minimally invasive. (Previously, testing required a nasopharyngeal swab, deep inside the cavity between the nose and the mouth. This is no longer needed to perform accurate testing).

How long do results take?
Results are provided within 3 to 5 days. In most cases, results are provided within 48 hours. Your result will be provided on your MyChart account.
